Our institutes are harnessing their interdisciplinary power to provide creative, collaborative and disruptive solutions and far-reaching insights and innovations for some of the world’s greatest challenges. The University also has an established Surrey Institute of Education which supports the faculties deliver high-quality teaching and higher education research and projects. The University was established on 1966 with the grant of its Royal Charter, but its roots go back to a late 19th-century concern to provide greater access to further and higher education for the poorer inhabitants of London.
